Persistent Ram Disc: help, please!

Greetings Mac OSX. I do audio, and though i also have my application (Logic Audio) in a version for 10.4, i want to work in 9.2 (dual boot machine here, my G4 power mac desktop) until i can afford to purchase some plug ins, etc for the OS X version.

My issue is: i had to take out two 512 sticks of ram to get the audio to play in Logic 4.8! Turns out Logic 4.8 had like, a 1GB limit. That leaves me with just like, 768 or something, which is pretty meager for any OS X apps.

Is there a way to set up a "persistent ram disc", and can you explain how to do it? Something i could enable when i'm in OS 9.2 (which i only use for Logic Audio), that will fool Logic into thinking i have less than 1 GB of Ram?

That would be great, as it would allow me to also have my extra ram when i start up in OS X.

Thank you so much for your time. Look forward to hearing back.

its been awhile sence i've used os 9, but i seem to remember there being a feild in the memory control panel for a ram disk. start into os 9. open the cp and set the ram disk size to what it needs to be to get you under 1gig. then restart and it should be there. as far as it staying after the next boot, i don't know, but it should stay. just remember that anything put on the ram disk will be lost in a restart or shutdown. let us know how this worked for ya.
