Pic of new PowerMacs?

I think it looks not so bad but if it really has to look like this I will prefer QuickSilver. But it matches the colour scheme that Apple uses now.

It's simply the ugliest design to come out of Apple if it is true. A tall Quicksilver case would come in handy, but loses the aesthetic appeal of the cases current dimensions. I suppose this would be very eary pre-production design due to the large seam running front to back along he case door.
I have a feeling the XServe brushed aluminum look might come to PowerMac towers and displays. Although I don't know if that would be such a hit as the smooth glossy look of Macs now.

I don't know about those doubts. This looks like the usual G4 tower (just like the blue & white G3) with 'white', which is a 'go' right now at Apple. The Xserve doesn't follow Apple's other designs anyway. I'd say, the picture shows what we'll see mid August.

And by the way: iPhone will be a UMTS phone with a reflective LCD and MPEG-4 capabilities. Will work all around the world, as soon as UMTS will catch on. Of course it will also be your PowerBooks Bluetooth extension to the world.

I'm sure Apple Legal will order those pictures to be taken down Monday. The front of the unit looks a little funky. Apple could have done a better job. I looked at the PDF spec on Spymac, it said this new PowerMac is "G5 Ready", sounds like a VERY expensive upgrade option. My PowerBook 520c was PowerPC ready and it never saw the PowerPC upgrade card because it was almost $1000!!! I like the 4GB of RAM, I'd use 2GB right now. The heat sink weighs 7lb!!! It must be an almost square block of aluminum. I think it's best to leave a "transition computer" with the first intended processor. The upgrade, if it's real, probably won't be worth the cost.

that has to be the ugliest ass case design i've ever seen!

even my PowerMac 7600 looks better! :p

and yes, what the hell is that massive PCI card they have in there?!

Huh, well, I don't think it's THAT ugly. Granted, that patch of grey amongst all the white is a bit weird... and I think the four "air intakes" on the front are a bit distracting... I mean, hey, if you're going to put holes in the front, why not make them functional USB and FireWire ports or something?

And if they need those air intakes so badly, I'm sure they can come up with a better looking way of getting air in. Some sort of cool-looking grill would work.

of course, assuming this ever becomes an actual retail product.

If you read the english text at the bottom of the french site, it states that the color isn't white. It's actually the same color as the existing QS towers, the pictures is just distorted and appears white. So you have the brushed aluminum around the doors being surrounded by silver/grey of the existing QS's, sounds much better then aluminum on white.

Maybe it's real, but I wouldn't count on anything. I worked at NEC in portable systems engineering, and the pre-production laptops we would get usually looked nothing like the mass-production models. They often had whatever panels were sitting around to cover up open parts, whatever colors they were. They were like the computer equivalent of the Partridge Family bus. :)

yeah, that's what I was thinking. it looks really ugly to me...
and so does the jaguar colored X. it doesn't match Aqua at all.

I remember last year or so when MOSR published some sketchy pics of the current G4s. Apple Legal set their rabid layers to work. Of course the pics were real. Unfortunately, I think these are real too, and ugly. The logic board and placement of the all the components just make sense. Why couldn't Apple just put a "buffed" aluminum screen/grill in place of the 4 holes?. It doesn't make any difference to me, I can't afford a new computer anyway, so I'll probably wait another year or so to buy PowerMac. Perhaps then Apple will have something based on IBM's Power4 or Power5 chip.

As for the overall case design with the 4 handles in each corner, Apple should hold onto that one. It is very easy toting my Mac around when I need to do that.

I just realized that the Mac motherboard pulled off of Ebay, even though it was red, has the same layout in terms of the location of the PCI slots and the CPU. The Ebay mobo just looked like it didn't have CPU.

Well, www.macrumors.com has already recieved a letter from Apple's legal department to remove any copies of the images on their server.
