Pictures Folder screen effects, suddenly slow

I don't know what I might have installed, since I've installed quite a few things lately, but I've noticed my screensaver has slowed to an ugly slow crawl lately. The pictures draw themselves very slowly on screen and the fades are terrible, it used to be so smooth.
Does anyone have any info on where I can look to try and track this performance problem down?

Never mind, I closed out of OSXVNC and the problem seemed to go away... then I started it back up again and it still performed smoothly. I tried to delete this post but the system won't let me . Doh!

I got a similar irk that has started happening...

When I walk away from the computer and the Screen Effects activate - it shows the screen effects very slowly, it would fade in/out in steps (like a step per second). But if I manually activate it via a hot corner- the screen effects are fine.

It isn't a big deal since I have tha habit of locking the computer when I walk away so I rarely see that - but when I do, it bugs me.

Any ideas?
