plaintalk mic not working under X

weird, works under 9, and... beleive it or not, works via virtual pc when running windows XP!

does NOT work under X using IBM's viavoice...

am I doing something wrong perhaps? help.

That's a ViaVoice issue. From what I've read in several forums, VV will work only with the specific make/model of USB microphone that comes with the software.
