about 2 minutes later i tried to reboot it and i would see the blue screen for a split second then a completly blank screen, then 3 dail tone noises, followed by a sleeping LED pattern that was.. short short short short long.

i tried reseting the PMU by taking out all the power sources then pressing the power button...... no luck.

i also opened up the RAM bay and took out the RAM for about a minute then put it back in and rebooted.... and still no luck...

please help me!! i need my computer for work purposes.

You might have to provide some more information on the speed of that CPU. There have been many revisions of the PowerBook G4 15" with different speeds.

15" powerbook g4
1.5ghz
OSX 10.4
512mb RAM
80gb hard drive
ATI mobility radeon 9700 with 64mb DDR SDRAM
DVD/CDRW
airport extreme
bluetooth

and did you already look in the manual's troubleshooting pages and check apple.com/support? I'm sure you'll find the answer.

So far from what I've been able to find on Google about this was a battery replacement for the PowerBook G4. Check the fourth post on this thread:

http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=13950

Apple replaced his battery, but that post was from 2003. See if maybe you can contact Apple about it and what they can do.

it wasnt the batter LEDs.... its was the white sleep button that u use to unlatch the screen...... the pattern was short short short long.

i was thinking of taking out the hard drive and taking it to a apple store with a genius bar...... i cant take the powerbook with my hard drive because i have some things that are not ment to be seen =X... files and all....

what is the safest way to take out the hard drive without damaging the files on it.... as i said i need it for buisiness and i cant loose the files.

Three beeps, or four flashes of the sleep light, repeating - means that your memory is failing the power-on test. try removing memory in one of the slots. If you have memory in only one slot, try moving it to the other slot. If you still get beeps/etc., then your memory is bad, or the slots are bad (which is a bad logic board)

as i said in my first post... already tried the memory slot thing.

good news guys :].... i took out the RAM again and put it into the other slot.. but this time when i booted it up i only used the AC with the battery out and it worked.

Try moving the memory back to where it was and start it up again without the battery as you did before. If it starts up, then it has to be the battery.

You can also try and put in the battery with the memory in the new location that you put it in. If it doesn't start up again, that also might point to the battery being the problem as was mentioned before.

However: If a battery is failing, the Mac simply doesn't charge it and use it. If *RAM* (or one of the RAM slots) is failing, you'll see the Mac not booting at all. So I'd guess it's the RAM.
