Hello all, I'm glad to be joining the Mac world! I just bought a used 17" MacBook Pro through my work. It's a 2008 model in MINT condition and so far I love it. Recently though, I've been toying around with it and it's confusing me a little bit. Here's the story..
I noticed in the finder, a section on the lefthand toolbar, where it says "search for". Underneath it are files of history (today, yesterday, past week etc...). After setting up my personal e-mail, I noticed a ton of really old files in there from past e-mails (resumes, letters, etc..) and since they're really old, I decide to delete everything out of there...not a good idea. I go to try and open my e-mail and calender for work and neither will open. It's telling me they're in the trash bin. Uh oh....good thing I didn't empty the trash!
I try to drag everything out of the trash back into where I removed it from and it won't let me. Instead I dragged it to the desktop into an untitled folder I created and e-mail and calender seems to be working fine again.
I don't want this folder to be the cure of my problem as it's just sitting there on my desktop so I want to delete it without having all my applications go along with it.
Also, I noticed in my system preferences app, the options for desktop and screen saver, Mouse settings and trackpad icons are now gone (probably along with others I haven't noticed)!! How do I get things back like it used to be?
Thanks in advance for any help.
