Please Help: TiBook can't find network!

I've got a very strange problem. At home I have a G4/933 running 10.2.8 and a DLink wireless router to cable modem. I have a TiBook 667 also running 10.2.8 with an airport (b) card. It connects to my network at home via ethernet or airport with no problem. I can log into the 933 from it and get out on the web.

I always used to bring it to work, and just plug into there PC network via ethernet and it would work fine. Never even had to change any settings. I could log into shared Windoze machines and edit files, and print to their printer via CUPS.

They just installed a Lynksys wireless access point, and I thought cool, now I can use the Airport. I brought it in and now neither the airport or ethernet work. I can see the wireless network and when I log into it, it gives me an IP address, but I can't see the other computers or get out on the web. I thought it must by the airport, so I went back to ethernet and it's the same thing. When I plug in the cable an IP shows up, so it's seeing the router, but I can't get anywhere else. So it thought it must be something they changed...

Today I was at a friends house who has 3 Macs and a PC laptop to a Lynksys wireless router, and I had exactly the same problem. I would get an IP but no access to anything. Ethernet or airport. So then I thought it must be my TiBook. I brought it home, but it all works fine on my DLink router here.

I am connecting using DHCP, either Ethernet or Airport, but for some reason it isn't working anywhere but home. Could it be Lynksys related? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Todd Gunnerson

Hmmm, very strange. What network settings are you using? Automatic? If so, try to set up a location on your own. Or did you already try this?

I am using automatic, haven't tried to set up a location. How would I do that?

The strange thing is, it worked before, and works at home. Why would it change?

well, this is the problem with automatic. It does something you can't get and obviously it changed something, otherwise it won't be automatic. It would be rather more confusing, if you did setup a location and that one wouldn't work anymore.. ;)
Ok, go to System Preferences -> Network -> and make a new location. If you are running a DHCP, simply type the ip of that server. If you need to setup a manual ip adress, do so. It is quite simple. Check it. I am on panther and can't give you a correct step by step instruction.
