Pls Help.G4 Powerbook screen turned blk&wht!

Hi

This is my 1st post here.......so, hi everyone
Unfortunately, I desperately need some help.
I have a G4 Powerbook 15" 1.33MHz 256MB RAM
running OSX 10.3.9 PANTHER
P.S. I'm a newly converted PC - Mac user

It has been a bit slow lately, but it has only got 256MB RAM, so I thought that was it...
When, suddenly, the screen just switched to BLACK AND WHITE
Does anyone know what this could be?

Press and keep pressed the 'Command, <option>, and <control>' keys (to the left of the 'spacebar' key), as you then tap the '8' key.
