hi everybody,
my mac (dual 2ghz g5 w/ 10.4.7) wont recognize usb card readers anymore.
the problem exists both with my sony psp (where it happened first) as well as a generic 10in1 (or whatever) card reader, both containing a 2gb memory stick pro duo card. for anyone unfamiliar with it, the sony psp acts as a card reader when connected via usb.
so far this has always worked fine.
i have to add that i accidentally removed the psp without unmounting 2 or 3 times and got the typical error message ("...data may be lost"). while removing i wasnt transferring any files though. i think the problem may have started after that.
i tried the same two peripherals with a windows xp laptop and they work fine.
my conclusion is that i might have damaged my os x installation in some way. i have run all the maintenance scripts and some freeware system optimization tools and restarted the mac (and the psp) several times. no success.
any help would be greatly appreciated since i really dont want to do a fresh install...
thanks in advance
jan
