I have a Mac 10.6.2 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - Memory 4 GB

Having my computer difficulties in start up not bluetooth not being able to find keyboard
message came up

" Bluetooth setup assistance is looking for a Bluetooth Keyboard" " no keyboard found - make sure it is discoverable"

The only thing that worked to get the computer to start up fully was to hold Command + `s' during startup.

I undertook a disk utility " repair permissions" and I have attached a screenshot of the results.

The only way I could bypass this was to Hold command + option+ p + r during start-up .

This is the 3rd or 4th time this happened in the last 2 to 3 weeks. Again it happened yesterday and today

Why do you think? How to rectify permanently ?

Sue

The only problem I see is that your BT keyboard and mouse are not being recognized. Those permissions issues mean next to nothing. Check the batteries with your BT keyboard and mouse or use a USB keyboard and mouse.

Thanks for your response.

Not being very techno savvy I be grateful for more information in relation to your response.

1. Where would I find the area where the batteries reside on my keyboard?

2. Please provide more information when you say use a USB keyboard and mouse.

Thanks

Sue

1.) Do you have Apple's wireless keyboard? If you do, look on the left side toward the back. See that metal circle with a slot inside it? Use a coin to turn that slot counter-clockwise to open the battery compartment. It takes 3 AA's if I remember correctly.

2.) A "USB" keyboard is any computer keyboard that connects to the USB port. The USB port is a thin rectangular port on the back of your iMac. There are three or four of them back there. The USB symbol is an arrow with a branch to the left and one to the right. You can get a very inexpensive USB keyboard to get you past the Bluetooth-not-found screen. It can even be a USB keyboard designed for a computer running Microsoft Windows, though some keys will be in different places.
