I'm wondering if Apple would be "open" and willing to let a customer review their firmware/hardware thermal timing analysis given the "open" nature of the software and OS platform. I'm finding that I am having some rather severe system crashes for which the AppleCare folks keep suggesting an Operating System reinstallation. I have a 1GHz Titanium PowerBook G4 15" with 1Gb of ram running Jaguar 10.2.3.
The really interesting part is that the overarching cause of the problem seems to be related to how long the system has been up and running and how much continuous workload has been placed on it (and by inference how warm the system becomes). It's entirely possible that there are timing issues at high silicon temperatures which could result in faulty address allocations or similar problems. Does anyone know of any such speculations? Is there a temperature sensor on the board or inside one of the ICs which could be accessed for troubleshooting?
Thanks...
