PowerBook crackling noise issue... please help!

I have an odd problem that I have not had with any other notebook. My PowerBook makes a crackling sort of sound when plugged in to the AC Adapter. I have tried three of the same AC adapters and it does it every time (the white box ones that come with the PowerBook 15"). It is not a terribly loud sound, but annoying enough (the fan is a bit louder).

When I remove the AC and let it run off of battery, everything is fine. No annoying crackling sounds. Any ideas?

BTW, my CPU is set at max speed for both battery and ac power. So I dont think it is CPU speed.

Thanks!

Perhaps you have a loose connection at the AC adapter. This could be causing an audible crackling, or even an inaudible crackling that gets picked up by the speaker.

The first thing I would try is a tiny bit of electrical contact cleaner on the AC adapter plug and it's socket. You might also try *GENTLY* tightening the AC plug for a better fit.

If the crackling persists, take it to your dealer. It is not impossible for the AC socket to have started to come loose from the motherboard, and that would require it to be repaired.

Took it to the dealer. Unfortunately, they could not hear it. So annoying... I am hearing it at this moment, a light crackling / static noise from under the keyboard.
