Hey
I have a powerbook G4 and suddenly one day experienced that the lid didnt lock when it was closed. I had a look down the tiny hole in the bottom and saw that the lockmecanism was broke. As it was still under warranty i returned my powerbook, end they sent it to apple. 3 weeks later i recieved a note saying that they(apple) had only seen this happen one other time, and therefor they refused to repair it under warranty. The repair would put me back, now hold on, 500$!!!! They argued that they had to replace the entire bottomcase etc etc. Now i told them to send my powerbook back without the repair, cause i didnt wanna pay thet much for that little. The problem is, it really bothers me not being able to close and lock my lid for transportation sleep purpose and so on. Anyone in here had the same experience with their lid or another issue apple didnt wanna fix because it was to rare to be apples problem??

Thanks in advance

If it were me, I'd be on the phone with Apple constantly until they fixed it. It's part of the machine and should be covered under warranty. Call Apple, if you don't get results, escalate it up the ladder.

Apple usually is pretty good. I have two Apple 17" Studio Displays I bought new in 1999. One had the poping problem a couple weeks ago. Called Apple, they sent me a box to send it to them. Got a call from them a few days later telling me the part needed was no longer available and asked if I would be satisfied with a new 17" NEC monitor. They sent it to me for free.
