PowerBook G4 snags on startup...

Whenever I try to start my PowerBook G4, I get the grey apple screen, it sits there for a while, then goes to a blue screen, and does nothing but display the little progress pinwheel after that and I have to hold down the power button to shut it off. I am posting from another computer. any ideas? PLEASE HELP
