Hi, I got my brand new powerbook just last week and i'm already having major problems.
It was running fine for the first few days, but then one morning it just wouldnt boot up. I press the power button and it appears to startup - the power light comes on, the fan starts up, but then it just hangs. The screen doesnt turn on, theres no chime- just a fan whirring continuosly. Eventually (after 2 hours!), it started up and got to the login screen. But then, when OSX loaded, there was no sound! Even the keyboard sound controls didnt respond. So I restarted the machine using the apple menu. Now it wont boot up at all. Not even after 2 hours. THe display doesn't come on, it just sits there with the fan going, getting quite warm. I've read other forum posts regarding such boot problems, and they all seem to recommend reloading the OS. Thing is, there's a disc in the slot drive which i can't eject, so i can't boot from the OS disc! Help!!!
