powerbook screen lid not locking

Has anyone had this problem with their Powerbook? I've a relatively new aluminum PB 15". sometimes it locks when i close it, other times, it just doesn't want to lock. any solutions?


(on a side note, hey! it's my 100th post)
 
I had same problem with my 12' pb. The lid just wouldn't close. When I was going home from work the other day, I had to use quite a lot of force to push the lid as close as it can get. Suddenly "snap", and it was locked down.

I had to press it with a lot of force for about week, and then it just got back to normal. Now I just close the lid and it locks nicely...

Isn't that weird...
 
Same here. My brothers 12inch alubook didn't close that nicely. He literally had to smash it to close the lid.
Well, the tibook closes just fine... ;) :p
 
One more thing about the 12inch alubooks:
when you have a really straight table, the book seems to waggle slightly. Weird, huh?

Okay, using some creativity, I placed a bit of tape in the small opening where the hook meets the latch. The tape goes inside the opening (the one on the same face as the touchpad), sticking to the face of the inside side wal betwen the wall and the small moving part connected to the lid release button. It makes the hook latch properly now. Just a small bit of tape probably no more than .25 mm thick. And it works. Try it with a piece of paper if you're not sure about it.
