Powerbook Vs PC

Hey... My problem is as follows. First a little background info: I have a Apple powerbook running OS X TIGER and a PC running XP. Both are connected to a linksys router. The XP is hard wired and the MAC is connecting wirelessly. Both computers are configured with static IPs and connecting to the router successfully. They are also on a workgroup called WORKGROUP (Is there a way to change that on a MAC?). I have all the "Sharing ports" enabled on the MAC and the PC does have stuff in it's shared folder.

Basically what I am trying to do is use the PC as a file server. I am having a problem getting the MAC to see the PC. I access the MAC from my PC but not vise-versa. My PC does show up in the NETWORK folder on my MAC however, just when I click the "connect" button... is say's "Missing alias... would you like , fix, delete etc. etc." I couldn't find any info on this problem anywhere.... Help please!!!!
I am new to MAC so please speak simply.
Thanks...
JIM

Try and manually connect. I have never like network browsing tools.

if finder: Go >Connect to Server type in: smb://"ip of PC"

without the quotes of course.

Yah I'll I'll totally try that... Thanks. Do you know if you can "map" that drive perminently to the appple?

Well that seemed to work, but now I'm having a problem logging on. I believe is says that "Opperation cannot be complete because one or more required items cannot be found. Error Code -43)"
Any suggestions?
