i have a dual G4 450 powermac tower. I've upgraded the video card, but was wondering if there's something i can do about the cpu and possibly the mobo?i believe my mac is agp 2x, and i'd like to have 4x to help my new radeon 8500 out. please tell me my broke self isn't going to have to get a whole new box
You can replace your motherboard with a similar one, but not upgrade to a better one, because they are designed differently from computer to computer. You may, however, upgrade the processor. Both PowerLogix ( http://www.powerlogix.com ) and Sonnet Technologies ( http://www.sonnettech.com ) sell 800 and 1000 MHz processor upgrade cards for 100 MHz bus PowerMacs. With some hardware surgery, you can even use a Quicksilver CPU module in your G4
