PowerMac dual-core processor upgrade?

I have a 2.0 GHz dual-core powermac, and rather than shell out for a MacPro, I am considering trying to upgrade the powermac processor. I'm just wondering, if I could get a 2.3 GHz dual-core, could I just switch out the processors and be all set? How about for the quad-core 2.5 GHz? Would either upgrade require a new logic board?

I'd rather upgrade the powermac than buy a macpro right now, so for the moment I'm going on the (possibly false) assumption that a processor upgrade wouldn't be cost-prohibitive compared to buying a macpro. I'm just trying to learn about the feasibility of the prospective processor upgrades.

Thanks!
Cheers!

AFAIK, there's no easy way to upgrade the processor on the G5 macs. However, it is a simple matter to upgrade RAM, the graphics card, or the hard drive - albeit expensive.

... Would either upgrade require a new logic board?

...
To the best of my knowledge, this cannot be done. The problem is not the motherboard. The issue with all G5s is that they are custom manufactured and mated to their cooling modules. The processor and cooling module are sold as a unit. As the 2.5 GHz G5 has a liquid-cooling module and the 2.0 GHz G5 is air-cooled, the engineering task of developing the upgrade is not economically viable.

Sell it to the highest bidder and get a Mac Pro. There might still be someone with a G4 Mac who somehow doesn't wanna go intel. :)
