Printer doesn't work after user switching

My printer works fine until I switch to the other Mac user and then back again. Then when I try to print it times out and says it can't communicate with the printer. Cycle power to the printer doesn't help. Only remedy I found is Mac reboot. But then the next time I switch users, printer can't connect again.

Running OS 10.3.8 and the printer is an HP PSC 750 with latest HP driver, connected via USB. Printer sharing is turned on, as I share the printer with a PC. PC and Mac both print fine, and both can't print in above scenario.

Anyone know if this is a feature or a bug?

I know for a fact that HP printer drivers a miserable.

I had similar symptoms to you but with another cause. Reboot was indeed the only solution.

The problem I found was that I had installed the "LASTEST DRIVER" from HP site (like you it seems).

Reverting to original driver solved my problem. Try this option.

THanks for trying, but actuallu the driver I had wouldn't work at all on the Mac. I had to get the latest version to make it work.
