Printer Issue scratching my head

My G5 is connected to a network printer (HP 4550)and has worked perfectly up till now. I get a connection error and try pinging the printer and My mac can't see it on the network at all. My windows laptop can see and print to it fine so I know the printer is working. I can do everything on the network that I did before except see the printer or ping it's IP address. I have it configured for IP printing and I am running 10.3

Sounds like a setting on the Mac got corrupted. For troubleshooting, go to the Terminal app and run this command: ifconfig
Show us the results.
Oh, and do you know if the printer is getting its IP address as a DHCP client?
And, have you tried appletalk to connect to the printer?
