I have been having an issue with printing from MAC computers to an HP Color Laserjet 2600N from several different MAC OS X versions (10.3.9, 10.4x) across network segments. PC's will print fine to the printer across segments. Is mDNS the only protocol that MAC's use to print over a network? Our network routers are not open to port UDP 5353. I have tried every possible way to connect via IP (HP IP, IPP, LPD/LPR, HP JetDirect, etc...)
Am I missing something or is the dumbed-down ethernet controller used in the 2600N? Up to this point, I have been able to print across segments to other HP printers with MAC OS X.
