printing from excel....absolutely stuck

Hey all,

I am completely baffled by this. I cannot print from excel 2004 on any printer. I can print just fine from word, ppt, etc, but when I file->print then click the "print" button in the print dialog box in excel, nothing happens. It's almost as if the button doesn't work. Most times I do not get a "quick preview" either.

I have tried everything I could think of. I have deleted the excel prefs, reset the printing system, unistalled excel, and then reinstalled, and updated to the absolute latest version of office 2004. I also found a utility called "printer setup repair" and ran that and removed all printer config files.

I'm lost, any ideas? This is so weird, and I don't know what else I could do.

Not sure about this really....

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, but a reinstall and a run of all the security updates cured it.

Have a look at "get info" for excel and see that you have read/write permission. Or try a permissions repair with Disk Utility. Did you have a demo version that you upgraded? Some demos won't let you save or print. If it's got linked back to that somehow????

Clutching at straws though.
 
yeah, i also tried repairing disk permissions. this was not a demo version either, it is the student and teacher edition.....

its weird because you can save in excel, and you can print in other office 2004 apps... just not excel.
