Printing under classic

I'm having a problem printing to a network printer from classic apps. I've configured the printer in the chooser as normal under OS9. Im using AdobePS 8.7.3, desktop printer spooler and desktop print monitor. Print Monitor and Laserwriter8 are both disabled. When I try to create a desktop printer the file doesn't appear in the OS9 Desktop Folder as it would normally, and when I send a file nothing appears at the printer. The printer works fine for machines running OS9 and fine from OS X apps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try this: Go to the chooser and at the same time hold down the option and the apple keys. Release the mouse to select the chooser but continue holding down the keys until you hear an alert sound. Now release the keys and the chooser window will come up.

Now you need to select your printer, close the chooser and give it a try.

What this does is clear the memory of the chooser and you start fresh.

Might be a silly question but are all your network preferences in order? Is your ethernet/apple talk armed and ready? As usual, check all the connectors to make sure they are attached. I am not sure why you would turn off the Print Monitor because, to my knowledge, it's required for printing (like the previous contributor wrote regarding LaserWriter 8). Maybe turn your file sharing and program sharing on and give complete access to both via the sharing info panels.

Neither print monitor nor laserwriter8 are required for printing or using desktop printer spoolers under os9. None of the macs on my network ever have them enabled and all manage to print fine.

There is obviously something missing from the Mac that can't print. I'd check over the extensions folder of a Mac that does print and compare it to the non printing Mac.

And I would think that Print Monitor needs to be active unless the printer has it's own monitor installed.
