Printing with appletalk on but still need PPPoE

Just purchased a brother multi function laser printer that seems to need appletalk on to work. The problem is that my verizon dsl needs PPPoE to allow internet access. Is there a way to have both these things up and running without having to go into the network prefs everytime I print and than again to go back online. I'm running Tiger.

You need to explain your network a little more - Do you have a router or not? Are you using wireless for internet and ethernet to the printer?
 
Thanks for reading my post. I'm not running a router, just a dsl modem and a small netgear ethernet switch (tiny thing with 5 ethernet ports). Running everything hard wired.
