Hello all. I'm having a bit of trouble, and I'm hoping someone in here might just be able to help me out. I have a 733 Quicksivler w/ 1.12GB RAM, along with the internal 40GB HD and an external Lacie 160GB FW 400 HD.
Here's a little background:
I have had the FW HD for a few weeks now and things have been working well on it. I installed Panther on the Drive, and I have been running my entire system off it. Everything has worked great until a couple days go.
It started to act funny, getting slow, freezing alot. So I decided to run repair permissions, and it took forever and got 3/4 of the way finished then just stopped. the HD stopped spinning and it just sat there. I did a hard restart and it kept acting pokey and what not. I then went to look for the Panther CDs, and they are MIA. I had a friend come over and we installed OS 9 on the internal HD and then tried to run his CD of DiskWarrior 2.something and it showed the pic of my HD and said it was 29%. We tried replacing the old "structure"? and it gave us an error and said to go back and rebuild, then check the details and preview. tried that, and it still wouldn't rebuild. So I pulled out my old Norton Utilities 6.0 CD and ran disk doctor, it kept finding the same two problems over with the structure, and I would tell it to fix, then run it again, and get the same error. I then decided to just boot back up Panther and see if I could figure something out, but now its stuck on the apple start up screen. I don't even get the object below the apple that twirls around. Nothing. Just sits there.
So I got it back into OS 9, and tried to pull the files off the FW hard drive to my internal drive so I could format and restore, and hopefully find my Panther CDs, but when I try to move them, it gets part way and either A) freezes or B) comes back with an error, but I'm not sure what the numbors where. I think one time it sait it could not be read...?
Any ideas on how I can fix the darn thing? i'd really appreciate it. I'm forced to use a Windoze laptop for the time being, so I really really hope to get this fixed soon.
Thanx
Justin
