Problem Upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard

Hello, I searched through some other topics, and couldn't find anything about this. First post, btw.

Found out that you aren't required to buy the box set to upgrade from tiger (as stated on the apple website), the upgrade disc will work just fine

So, I go to install on this Macbook Pro (2.16 Intel Core Duo, 2GB Ram, 100GB HD)

Everything starts fine, but when I select destination to install (Hard Drive), I get an error message that says "Contents of this disk cannot be modified"

This is my fiancee's Mac, and I am not very familiar with 10.4, just wondering if anyone else had ran into this problem, or had any suggestions..? I've scoured the web to no avail.

Thank You,

Jason Borden

It might work just fine, but it's not the correct way. Just because Apple hasn't technically included a message that tells you that you're using a wrong license doesn't mean it's fine. If you're on 10.4, you need to buy the Mac Box Set with Snow Leopard.

Now to the technical part. If the installer finds your HD inappropriate, I'd say it's time for repairing the harddrive and repairing the permissions on that drive. "Disk Utility" should be available from the Utilities menu within the Snow Leopard installer.
