Hello! Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions!
I have 2 Window PC's capable of using WPA and 1 old Mac G4 Quicksilver with the original Airport that only supports WEP. I have the two PC's currently set up and working fine with a Linksys WRT54G Router that is configured with an SSID with WPA encryption. I connected a Linksys WAP54G Access Point to the WRT54G with an ethernet cable (should it be a crossover cable?) and configured the WAP54G with a completely new SSID with a different password, passphrase and key encrypted with WEP. My old Mac G4 with the original airport card sees and connects with the WEP enabled SSID on the WAP54G but there is no internet. When I run network diagnostics on the Mac there is a green light next to the Airport but a red light with the words failed next to ISP, internet, and server. I know the internet and ISP is fine because I am able to write this post as we speak on the two PC's.
Does anybody have any ideas on why the Mac does not connect to the internet? Does it have to do with how the WAP54G is configured? Or is it how the Airport Card's TCP/IP settings are set up to connect to the internet (i.e. DHCP, DHCP Manual, Manual etc.)?
