Problem with wireless optical mouse.

I have a Microsoft wireless optical mouse and when I'm scrolling up every couple seconds it scrolls down for a brief moment. It will go like up up up up up down up up down up up up up down. It sometimes happens when scrolling down, but much less frequently. Any help to solving this would be much appreciated.

Oh, on a side note, it IS battery powered. However, I've switched out the batteries a couple of times and the problem persists.
 
I've had a battery-powered Microsoft Wireless mouse for about a week now and its been fine on the 2 PC's I've used it on. I had a wired USB optical mouse on my newer PC and once in a while, even if there're no windows open the pointer will start travelling across the screen. As soon as I move the mouse then its fine for a while.
 
Run Software Update. I had a InteliMouse, and before 10.3.8 it gave me all these weird issues. Also, Microsoft has drivers for the Mac, maybe try installing them, they may be newer than the ones you have.
