...and it wasn't worth the repair.

The main two problems were a cracking hinge, and a loud mechanical noise like something was stuck in the fan. The engineer replaced the hinge, and recognised the noise, and claimed it was a hard drive noise. Tried to diagnose it, crashed the HD, losing my 6-8GB of iTunes Store Music that I couldn't get back. Ouch. And the noise problem still wasn't fixed, not to mention my Powerbook now had a huge scratch on the lid.

It was almost 3 weeks in repair, and now, the cracking is back, a few months after repair.

It's under warranty, what shall I do?

Call Apple directly in your country, and tell them that you're unhappy with the repair work performed and would like another technician to fix it. They'll usually arrange for your laptop to be couriered to them directly or to a different repair centre. It should all be covered under warranty - that's what warranties are for.

Despite the best efforts of designers, some hard drives *will* fail.

As for your iTunes music store purchases, have you tried contacting iTunes Music Store customer service? They may be able to help you restore your music library (not sure on this though).
