Problems installing Quicktime 7

Hi there,

I'm new to the forums, but I have performed a forum search ('quicktime 7') but I couldn't see any obvious threads so...

I am running OSX3.9 on a 1Ghz PowerPC G4, 256 MB ram. I have downloaded the quicktime update from apple.com, and tried to run it. It mounts OK, opens OK and goes all the way through the installation until the last step. I have clicked all the licence agreements and all that jazz, and the only thing that needs to happen is for the bar to fill up and it to, well install. But it doesn't, it just closes. Any thoughts?

My current version of QT is 6.4. When I run the Updater, it tells me that my version of QT is up to date. However, there are some Custom things I can install. Perhaps one of them?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried downloading the full QT 7 installer rather than an update? Also, you might want to repair permissions prior to installing.

I was trying a double pronged approach to the QT problem. I'm sorry if it wasn't clear from my original post, but when I use the updater, it tells me it is up to date (it's not, it's at 6.4). And when I use the installer, it goes through the motions, then just closes without installing. Please forgive this n00b for not knowing how to repair permissions.

OK, it's working now. I repaired the permissions using the boot disk. Even though it said there weren't any problems, I clicked repair and, QT installed fine this time.
Cheers :-)
