Problems installing Retrospect client and Filemaker

I replaced my internal HD on my MacBook Pro and need to reinstall the Retrospect client software. I downloaded the installer for version 6.1. When I run it the installation process is done, but when it finishes it requires that I enter a password. Although there is a blinking pointer in the text box, I am unable to type in the box. No character registers when I hit a key on my keyboard.

I have the same problem with Filemaker. The first time I run it after installation it wants a registration code, but I'm unable to type into the field.

This makes me think it’s not specifically a Retrospect or Filemaker problem but something in my system.

Does anyone have any ideas about this?
