Problems Printing on OS X 10.2 with HP LaserJet 6P

I have an HP LaserJet 6P connected to a Win XP Professional PC via the parallel port. I installed the support for UNIX printer sharing in XP. I also went through the printer setup in OS X and entered the IP address of the PC and typed in the Queue Name of the printer, HPLaserJ and selected the Printer Model "HP LaserJet 6P/6MP - PostScript", the only one that I can select for this printer.

For some reason whenever I try to print something, the printer just pulls every single page out of the tray (one by one) and doesn't print anything.

Can somebody tell me what I need to do so it will print correctly?

I'm not 100% sure this will fix it, but I do know that your problem is that HP says they only support ascii(text) postscript, but MacOSX puts out binary (raw) postscript. Yet most printers, hooked directly to the Mac, work fine.... :-(
On the print server WinXP machine, bring up the printer "properties" and click device settings. There you will see Output protocol - click on it and set what it's Not set to, then try printing.

Hello,

Thanks for your help. I went to the properties for the printer and clicked on the Device Settings tab but I don't have anything that says "Output Protocol". Do you have any idea if it could be located in some other place? I tried looking around at some of the other sections but didn't see it.

You probably don't have the postscript driver for the 6P (or maybe it isn't a postscript printer - I don't know) set up, so you don't see that tab? I don't have a WinXP computer to check right now.
