Problems uploading or sending mail

Hi I run tiger osx and use a 2wire 1800HG router for my internet connection. My provider is tiscali who can't seem to give me a solution to my problem. When using my pc I connect via PPoE using a username and password, however when I use my mac with the router plugged in via ethernet and select PPoA and entering my details I keep getting unable to connect via PPoA. When I select DHCP I get connected and can download and recieve mail however I am unable to upload or send mail.
I'm sure it's something silly but I just can't sort it out.

Any help PLEASE.
 
Check the settings in the mail application and see if it's set up with an outgoing smtp address.
It will be under accounts in the preference setting. If not, click on the + sign on bottom left corner and set up an account.
