I've been using an Airport Extreme for a couple of years to provide access for two or three Mac laptops to a DSL modem, and I've had no serious problems until very recently. All of a sudden, one of the laptops (I'll refer to it as L1, a G4 PowerBook) lost its connection. Internet Connect says "could not find a PPPoE server", and the airport icon constantly scrolls "looking for PPPoE server". Another G4 PowerBook (I'll call this one L2; it's the one I'm using to post this) has normal Internet access.
Calling Verizon got me nowhere, since they say that they "don't support the Airport". Plugging the modem's ethernet cable directly into laptop L1 enables normal Internet access.
As far as I can tell, the network configurations of L1 and L2 are identical, but L1 is unable to connect while L2 connects normally. Can anyone give me any hints of where I should be looking and what I should fix?
Thanks,
Steve Seidman
