problems with emacs over ssh

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with getting emacs to work on a remote linux machine that I've ssh'd into using the term app. I've enabled "Delete key sends backspace" and "Use option key as Meta" in the options, but certain key combinations still dont work. Such as C-v which is supposed to send emacs into the background simply instead does a page down, also, C-h which is supposed to be help just does a backspace.

Any ideas for a fix or some sort of work-around?

Thanks in advance,

I am confused C-v has always done a page down in emacs. Now your C-h problem is a classic issue with term cap entries that has plagued Unix since it was first invented to support vi. What version of Linux are you using. I gotten around this in a pinch by lying and saying that Terminal.app was an xterm by setting TERM=xterm

One thing is could you run X11 on your mac and then export the emacs X GUI from the linux box? That is by far the superior solution in my mind.

My bad about the C-v thing, I guess I had some setting that changed it by default on my last system or something... but anyway...
Weird fix to my problem: I disabled the option "delete key sends backspace" and now mysteriously my C-h problem is solved and delete still works like backspace  I won't ask why and I'll jsut accept it for now. Perhaps it is related to my mucking around with X11 and xterm since my last post, which btw, didn't work either because the delete key acted as C-h and option-delete did a backspace... It is all rather confusing. and yes, I did try the X11 options about using or not using system keboard layout and all that, didn't seem to make a difference. Oh well, I might be back later if this messes up again later. Thanks, tho.
