Problems with Modem Scripts

Hello.

From long time ago, I couldn't use the default's Apple scripts. The default 56K v.90 made my line to come down after like 5 minutes, so I had to run with 56K v.34 (speed 33.6K).

Some months ago I found those scripts that were enhanced, and with them I could browse (and play) with 56K speed (49333), but, I still have some disconnection problems. Every some period of time, maybe 5 hours, maybe 10 minutes, maybe 1 minute, my line still comes down. I could handle this, but for like 3 days I've been kept disconnecting... more than usual.

I called my ISP, and they say that it's maybe because of Voice Mail, so it's until today that I tell them to deactivate it. But I think the problem it's because the modem scripts, because they are a bit old, or I just don't know. I would like to connect with the officials Apple's scripts, because I shouldn't have problems with modem scripts, it's a bit ()@#*$) when you are playing (or making something) and you get disconnected.....

What can I do?

What you are describing sounds similar to issues I have been experiencing for the past few months. It got to the point where I could barely connect, or stay connected at all.

I have managed to get my dail up connection back up to about 85% reliability now, in part by setting up my firewall again (this can cause major problems if you have the OSX firewall set up - which you should - and it gets screwed due to unknown factors), and in part by replacing the faulty cable into the back of my machine. Check your cable for kinks or breaks for starters.

So you know, I use the Apple Nifty 56K V.90 which is suited to the Asia Pacific region (I live in New Zealand). Call your Applecare contact, and ask them to reccommend one of the included modem scripts that is best suited to your area.
