Problems with palettes in photoshop/imageready

I'm using MAC OS X (10.4) and CS 1. When using photoshop and/or image ready, the palettes randomly become unclickable. I have to
restart the program to get them to work again. Any idea what's causing this?

Could be a Tiger incompatibility…have you upgraded to the latest 10.4.5 update?

Have you rebuilt/repaired permissions? Might help: apps/utilities/disk utility/repair permissions.
