projector/usb problem

Hi,

I am trying to connect a G4 powerbook to an Epson projector. I want to be able to use the remote control to forward slides etc in PowerPoint. The instructions to be able to do this indictate that it works by getting the remote to act as your mouse and you need to connect these with a USB.

However when I do this the laptop thinks I'm trying to connect a keyboard and comes up with the error that it doesn't recognise the keyboard and then freezes until I remove the USB connection. This happenss regardless of which USB port Ii use on the laptop.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong / how to get around this?

The instructions state that for Windows there are certain requirements but it's vague for Macs. it just says this may or may not work on any particcular computer and that you may need to reconfigure something on your machine but it was very very vague!

Have installed Tiger 10.4 recently and have chaecked the Epson website but there aren't any software updates required.

Any help gratefully received!

Thank you.

Well, I guess this is a no-go for now, then. They probably (and probably stupidly so) used something funky that doesn't provide the computer with a standard USB mouse device. What are the requirements on Windows? Are the drivers that must be installed?
