Putting new G4 system software on an old G4.

I just bought two new G4's (one single, one dual) for my office. These replace my old G4 which I bought in May '00 (OS9). I was planning on selling the old one but when I see how little I can get for it, I am wondering if I should just keep it. I do not have a machine at home. Can I do either or both of the following:

1) I have a bootable external drive at home that has three partitions. Two of the partitions contain my back-up of my machines at work (including the system software which I completely copied over using CarbonCopyClone). Can I run my old Mac by bootting off of the external using one of the newer G4 systems?

2) Instead of booting off the external, can I copy the newer G4 system onto the old G4? Since the old one has OS9 on it, should it first wipe the old G4's internal disk clean?

By the way, the old one is 400MHz with 10GB internal.

Thanks!
Ron

1) You should be able to. Try it.

2) No. Don't even mess around with this, you will screw something up.
