Question About Word & Script Editor?? -Won't Open .doc files w/out opening from Word

Hi there. I recently installed MS Office for Mac X, and when I am in Word, I can open files, but when I try to open a .doc file from a folder(not going through Word), then Script Editor comes up and tells me it can't read it cuz it's not scriptable. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Do a Command I on the file and set it to Open with Word.
