Questions about "Guest PC"

Hi!
I'm new to this forum - just joined - & I've got questions about Guest PC [www.lismoresystems.com]. Is anyone familiar with it? I had to choose this app because none of the other virtualization apps seem to work on my older Mac. I'm running Tiger 10.4.11 on a G4 iMac Flatpanel.

Anyway, I was able to load Windows 95 but cannot access the drives, mainly the D drive so I'm unable to load any apps from CD. The error says: "MY COMPUTER D:\ is not accessible. The device is not ready. "Retry" "Cancel" ".

Is there some way to configure this that I need to know or do I have some kind of malfunction that I won't be able to get around? Any ideas?
Any input would be apreciated & thanks in advance! - Todd

Talk about a blast from the past. Wintel emulators for the Mac have been irrelevant for more than three years. The following comments are based on my fading memory. This accounts for most errors in the following account. That said, here goes:

Back when there are a market for Wintel emulators on the Mac, Lismore Systems touted its suckie vaporware entry named Blue Label PowerEmulator. It retailed for $35.00, but did not include a bundled commercial OS. It is my understanding that BLPE shipped with opensource MS-DOS clone, FreeDOS. The emulator was marketed as an inexpensive alternative to Virtual PC. Did I say BLPE was slow? It was slow.

The company went dark and returned some time later with BLPE priced at $19.95. It took forever for Lismore Systems to release a MacOS X version of its emulator. Again IIRC, the Lismore changed the name of the emulator to Guest PC when it was upgraded to MacOS X-compatibility. I remember the price of Guest PC as $29 without OS. It is certainly a surprise to see that Lismore Systems is asking $69.99 for it.

The bottomline is that you have an obsolete product from a company with a checkered past. This is not to say that Lismore Systems is run by crooks. To the contrary, some Guest PC users love it. However, you will be better served by reading the trials and tribulations of Guest PC users who have solved the same problems as you. You will find them on the MacWindows.com website.
