Re-Install 9.2.2

Howdy
If i start up off my Powerbook 9.2.2 install disk can i install 9.2.2 on my G4 Tower? It really isn't a 'special' version of 9.2.2 is it? And if i install over the 9.2.2 files already on my disk it won't hurt anything will it?

You see right now if i start up classic from 10.1.3 on my G4 Tower at work it takes forever but if i start off my G4 Powerbook at home it takes less than 60 seconds. I belive that is because my 9.2.2 on the powerbook hasn't been tweaked at all. Where as the 9.2.2 on my tower was used for years and settings and what not have been changed.

From my experience it won't work.

I tried to install OS 9 from my G4 tower install CD onto an older iMac and it didn't work.

It did install but it wasn't running like it should.

Instead of a reinstallation, try creating a new "stripped-down" set of extensions to use in Classic. Copy the 9.2.2 Base set in Extension Manager. Disable any hardware-related extensions. Add anything you know you will need. Then see if Classic's performance improves.
And if you forgot any vital extensions, just go back & add them later.

I alreay gave up. I did a clean 9.2.2 install on a second partition and it cut my classic startup time in 1/2 but for some strange reason the programs wouldn't open. Could be because i had them on different partitions or something.

Weird...

You probably need to copy the Classic program extentions into the new partition's system folder. A lot of apps won't work without their extentions.
