Recognize my iPod, %$%#*^!

Lately (and sporadically), when I dock my 15GB 'pod, it'll charge, but iTunes (and Finder) don't recognize it as being mounted...anyone know of any fix for this?

Go to /Applications/Utilities and run the Process Viewer program. Click the column header "Name" to alphabetize the list. Look for 2 processes: automount, autodiskmount.

If either one is not there that might be your problem. Do you have any problems mounting CD ROMs?

They're both there...it just kills me that to update my iPod, I have to restart my Mac first...aren't WINDOWS users the ones who are supposed to be having these problems?! It's this evil 10.2.6 update, I tell you. It did funny things to my iMac. *Crosses fingers and waits for Panther*

It did funny things to a lot of Macs. For now, just bear with it if you can't find an easy fix.

Repair your permissions, if you haven't already. Once you've done that 2.6 seems to run great. If you have, have you tried cocktail (the app, not the drink, though both could help).
