Recognizing fonts in OS 10.5

I tried to add fonts from a CD in OS 10.5. The system wouldn't recognize adobe postscripts fonts from the CD as fonts. I had to go to an older mac system (10.4.11) on a G4 and send them to myself over the network. Then it recognized them. Is there a way to make the mac recognize it by adding an extension? I tried the info box and selecting fontbook as the app.

This CD was created in OS 9.

Your MacOS 9 fonts don't have extensions, but they do have CREATOR/TYPE codes. MacOS X recognizes those:
  • Flick on one of the fonts.
  • Select the File > Get Info menu item.
  • Select Open With: Font Book.
  • Click Change All....
After you do this, all of your MacOS 9 fonts should be recognized as fonts by Font Book.
