Reformatting the right way?

Hey folks. i just got my HDD Enclosure, Galaxy Metal Gear Box and loving it.

I just put my NTFS-formatted HD in it and hooked it up in my MBP. it working great and show all my old files that i forgot for a year. but when i ameppt to create a new folder in it. i realized that it in NTFS-formatted and i cant do anything with it. so i transfer my old files to my Mac and reformat it. So i went to Disk Utility to reformat it. i click the HDD and told it to use MS-DOS File System.

the reason why i pick this format because i will be using Boot Camp for Gaming and using Parallels for Business. So i plan to put XP Pro in it. then i reformat it and it showing up as MS-DOS format and i can put files in it.

But my question is which MS Format that MAc can read? FAT16 or FAT32? If it one of them, then how i put FAT16 or FAT32 on my second HDD? or MS-DOS is the correct format?

Format it using Disk Utility on your Mac, and select "MS-DOS File System" as the format. This is, if I remember correctly, FAT32 format.

Certainly do not use FAT-16 as it has severe limitations (like max VOLUME size of 4gb). If you take the wrong format, you will find a very small extra VOLUME available.

Good luck, Kees
