Apple has acknowledged (at least in practical terms) that the iBook has a design flaw and has extended the warrantee on specific problems that have more than one person pulling his or her hair out. My wife is grateful that I will not go prematurely bald.

Awesome. This was mentioned already in the iBook bummer - thread, but sure is worth a thrad of its own.

Very smart move from Apple. I had an iBook, the logic board crashed and needed replacing within 2 months of use. Now the new user has had the logic board die again - and in all parts of Europe they do not want to apply the 24 months EU warranty (but their own, 12 mos). THAT of Apple should be still valid, so I hope he calls Apple ASAP.
