Does anyone know how to remove the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 lists from the source list in iPhoto?

Do not tamper with iPhoto Library in Finder. It is iPhotos way of organizing. If you remove or change anything there, you will not be able to use iPhoto, and your photos will/may be lost! Do any organizing of your photos from within iPhoto! Trust me, been there, done that -- not pretty! Pretend iPhoto Library in Finder is not there -- you will be much better off.

Try edit -> select all, then photos -> batch change. Change the date on all photos to one year.

You can hide the years from view, too, if you just click the triangle next to library.

the best is to click the little triangle like eric said, thats what i do. remember that iphoto organizes your photos by the date it thinks they were taken, which is the date it finds in the meta data, or if no date there, i think it uses the creation date or the date you imported it into iphoto. it may seem silly at first, but if you think about it, thats the one way best to organize for the app to find things quickly. also like sky was saying, never ever touch anything in yout iphoto library folder. if you need a pic to go somewhere else, just drag it from the iphoto window to the desktop, and it will make a copy that you can move or do what you will to.
