Does anyone know if it's possible to repair pro speakers? RH one is dead and I think it's probably the connections in the jack (baaaaaad design there!) that have gone, especially as I only ever drop the LH one :o . Any help would be appreciated
Liz :)

I am not very familiar with the pro speakers. Are they some kind of passive speakers (without any amp)? If there is an amp with an external power plug in there (what I believe), you will have a cable that is 2x cinch to 1x jack. Simply replace that one and see, if things work fine.
However, if your speakers are passive, you can chop off the faulty jack and connect a new one to it. Just make sure you isolate the connection-sites of the cables well or you will have a lot of noise in your sound. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Zammy! I guess they are passive as there is no amp. Do I need a special apple jack do you think, or can I use any old one? By isolating connection-sites do you mean keeping the wires from the LH speaker separate from the RH speaker?
Maybe I should just plug it into my HiFi

HiFi? No Way! Stereo speakers are not shielded to protect your computer from the speaker magnets. You can just get new computer speakers for a relatively small price.

Yeah, as Cheryl said, keep hifi speakers away from your screen. Some of them have very strong magnets producing a strong magnetic field which can distort the pictures of your screen permanently.
As for the jack you can use any, even one from old headphones. And yes, I meant to not allow any contact between the two wires. Maybe a clip would do much easier..

good job I'm always putting off things till tomorrow! Think I'll have to fork out the £60 (that's about $150 folks!)for a new pair :( cause I doubt I have the techie fingers to do the job...As regards 'smallprice' cheryl, EVERYTHING in the UK is at least 2x the price (apart from wages) of stuff in america ::evil:: and Apple stuff is even more. (stamps feet and goes off in a huff)

 thanks for the help anyway...will still try an fix 'em for the sprog's pooter
