repeating blue screen?

hi,

i have a G5 iMac. i've had the thing for about three years and i love it. i've never had a problem except a corrupted hard disk which i had replaced professionally. i've also upgraded to leopard and running the latest version.

so here's the problem: every few 10 seconds or so, my screen goes blue. stalls for a few seconds and comes back to normal.

with some investigation, i noticed a few more things:

  • my wallpaper changes between my personal one and the leopard one every time the screen comes back from blue.
  • i checked the display settings and it looks like there's a "VGA" setting that appears and disappears.
  • this problem is starting to happening more and more frequently. it used to be every minute, not it's every few seconds.

wondering if any one has any clues to what's going on? if it's fixable? software or hardware? any possible solutions to try?

i haven't installed anything other than Apple updates recently, nor do i have anything out of the ordinary connected to my computer.

thanks for your help!
